Our Work – JFRail

Real-World Impact in Rail Operations and Customer Support

Getting things right

Getting things right. As anyone who has dealt with our team knows, we are all about quality outcomes and doing things to the right standard. We’re close to unveiling our new branding and website, and have a few more tweaks to make sure it accurately represents our work, our approach and our values. We want it to showcase how we help our partner clients run more efficient, safer and smarter railway operations with the right support. Keep your eyes peeled in the next few weeks, and once unveiled we’d love feedback from you – those in our industry.

We’re excited to see how innovation

We’re excited to see how innovation, digitalisation and international collaboration are shaping the future of rail across Europe and the Middle East. For JFRail, this year marks a step forward: more projects, more partnerships and a growing presence in both regions. We look forward to connecting with colleagues, clients and new contacts at Global Rail Abu Dhabi – and to being part of the conversations driving the industry forward. Will you be there? Let us know. We’d love to catch up.

Stations Resourcing Initiative

JFRail developed the Stations Resourcing Initiative (SRI) and has and implemented it across several Network Rail-managed stations over the past three years. The initiative uses innovative rail industry technology to transform station operations from a static, location-based model into a task-led, optimised approach supported by workforce planning tools and efficient rostering.

Review and Implementation

Improving Service Recovery and Training in Controls

The Elizabeth Line concession was awarded to GTS in 2024, with operations commencing in May 2025. As part of mobilisation and its Year 1 operational improvement programme, GTS commissioned JFRail to undertake a comprehensive review to identify improvements for how the Elizabeth line manages train services during disruption.

STRATEGY

Control Layout and Floor Plan optimisation

Selected by GTS in 2025, JFRail was tasked with redeveloping and reorganising the Elizabeth Line Operators desks in the Romford Control Centre (RCC) Control Room to improve communications and deliver performance benefits through optimising the approach to incident management and managing the train service in disruption.

Operational Systems review and enhancements

JFRail was selected by GTS to partner with them on bidding for the Elizabeth Line in April 2024. One of the main areas of focus for the JFRail team on the bid was the development of an integrated Operational Systems solution for the Elizabeth Line, which currently has a lot of disparate systems that lack interfaces and automation to support workflows in the organisation.
Implementation

Integrated Train Service Recovery – national programme

Historically, the rail industry’s approach to service recovery following disruption was disjointed. With no common national standards, companies experienced increased delays, financial penalties, and customer dissatisfaction. Following a comprehensive RSSB research project in 2019, JFRail led the Integrated Train Service Recovery (ITSR) programme to mitigate these challenges.
