Earlier this year, we visited Manchester Piccadilly to begin a piece of work focused on station resourcing — understanding how the station operates, and where opportunities exist, to improve how resource is planned and deployed.
That work is now complete.
We’re pleased to have delivered a full feasibility study report alongside a set of user-friendly diagrams, giving the client a clear, practical picture of the current operation and a solid foundation for future resourcing decisions.
As part of the study, we also developed a number of options for base rosters – giving the client a range of viable starting points to evaluate, rather than a single fixed recommendation. That flexibility is important; it allows the team to weigh up different approaches against their operational priorities and make an informed choice about the direction that best fits their needs.
Projects like this matter because better resourcing isn’t just an efficiency question – it directly shapes the experience passengers have at one of the North’s busiest stations.
Thank you to the team at Manchester Piccadilly for their engagement throughout. We look forward to seeing the work put to use.
