Earlier this year, members of our team including Andy M. spent time at Manchester Piccadilly Station. We were there to better understand how one of the North’s busiest stations operates and explore opportunities to improve how resources are planned and deployed.
With the project now complete, we’ve delivered a full feasibility study, a set of easy-to-use operational diagrams and a range of roster options to help the team shape future resourcing decisions.
The best part of the project for Andy was working alongside the people who keep the station running day in, day out. Taking the time to listen to their experiences and understand the challenges they face gave us a much richer picture of the operation than data alone could. Those conversations helped us identify key opportunities that will support the station moving forward.
We’re already building on this work, with a new project underway across Manchester and Liverpool Stations. This aims to improve mobility assistance and make journeys easier for customers who need extra support. We’re excited to see how this work helps shape the future of the stations!
